Methodology

Diagnosing for clear outcomes

You should understand the purpose of the work, what you will receive, and what is expected of you before an engagement begins. Our process makes those commitments visible.

Stage 01 / 05

Is this the right problem to solve together?

We begin with your objective, the decision ahead, the people involved, and the practical constraints. Together, we determine whether our involvement would be useful.

What you leave with

A focused next step: discovery, a bounded diagnostic, a referral, or a decision to pause.

Your part in the process

Bring the challenge, the timing, and who needs to be part of the decision.

Decision pointAgree whether to explore the work.

The value case

Weigh the options. Understand the consequences.

We begin with the economics of your problem: avoidable cost, missed opportunity, operational drag, and material risk.

Where the evidence supports it, we quantify the consequences of delay over an agreed period. Where it does not, we make the uncertainty explicit. The cost of a problem is not a promise that all of it can be recovered.

Evidence before certaintyFacts, client claims, estimates, and assumptions remain distinguishable.
A proportionate commitmentThe scope and fee reflect the work, its value, the risks, and the resources needed to implement it.

Ways to work together

The engagement should fit the decision.

01 / Diagnose

Resolve the uncertainty.

A bounded paid diagnostic when a material unknown must be tested before committing to a wider program.

A finding, a recommendation, and a clear proceed, narrow, or stop decision.

02 / Deliver

Complete a defined mandate.

A fixed or milestone-based engagement for agreed outcomes, deliverables, responsibilities, and review points.

A specific scope with a visible finish line.

03 / Advise

Keep judgment close.

A strategic retainer where ongoing decisions justify reserved advisory capacity and an agreed cadence.

Defined access, priorities, and responsibilities for the period.

Before we begin

Clear expectations from the outset.

What happens in the first conversation?

We discuss your objective, the obstacle, timing, and the people who can authorize and implement a decision. The purpose is to establish fit and a useful next step. It does not commit you to a wider engagement.

Do we need a complete brief?

No. Bring what you know and the questions you cannot yet resolve. We help clarify the decision and identify the evidence needed to scope useful work.

How are fees agreed?

We scope the work before agreeing fees. Depending on the mandate, that may mean a fixed diagnostic, milestone-based delivery, or a bounded advisory retainer. Scope, payment terms, dependencies, and completion standards are documented before delivery begins.

What if the scope changes?

We assess the effect on deliverables, timing, responsibilities, and fees together. Material changes are agreed in writing before the additional work begins.

Will you work with our existing advisers?

Yes, where agreed in scope. We clarify the commercial questions and coordinate responsibilities and handoffs. Legal, tax, accounting, securities, and other specialist work stays with appropriately qualified professionals.

What happens when the engagement ends?

We review completion, hand over the agreed work, and make remaining responsibilities clear. Ongoing advice or a further phase is separately scoped and authorized. It is a deliberate choice, not an automatic extension.
